A traditional brick house was built to exactly match the neighbourhood on top of an old electrical substation. The electrical substation had to be removed before construction; this was further complicated as it was found to have been built on an older substation. The new build was well insulated with a warm roof but in every other sense was traditional in its construction.
In the existing house next door a basement was dug out to approximately the footprint of the building. On this occasion eco only took responsibility for all the structural works, internal fit out by others.
